…absolutely amazing ornate handcrafted brass cross, made by the lost-wax method, making it very unique with beautiful intricate detail. (lost wax casting, also known as cire perdue, is a metal casting technique that uses a wax model to create a mold, then melts and drains the wax, leaving a cavity to fill with metal or glass. this process has been used since the 3rd millennium bc) - this cross belongs to the group of processional crosses which accompanies each procession of the ethiopian orthodox church. It has a hollow shaft for mounting on a wooden handle, so that it can be carried above the heads of people in processions and religious ceremonies.
approx: 17.5” x 12.5”
